I'm quite familiar with All My Faith Lost..., so it's no surprise to me that Francis has the artistic sensitivity and creativity necessary to tackle the subject of decay and the cycle of life without going overboard with bombastic noise, etc. This is very complex and moving music with an equally amazing package from Colin to match. Unbelievable!

Decays Deluxe limited edition version
Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album
This is the over-the-top deluxe version of "Decays", in an edition of only 50 copies of which only 35 will be for sale. It comes housed in a custom made, lidded, bamboo IPad case. The front and inside of each case is collaged with vintage industrial paper ephemera, medical and x-ray diagrams and children’s books cut-outs. Embedded in polyurethane within each box is an assortment of decaying detritus…rusting metal bits and gears, clock parts and other organic material. The factory pressed disc comes in a hand stamped black, linen sleeve lined envelope that is hinged to the inside cover of the case. The surface of each interior is protected with a page from a vintage book on clocks. Each case is then neatly contained with an attached elastic band. The first 40 cases sold will be black…the last ten will be red…

Decays Handmade "standard" version
Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album
This is the individually unique, “standard” version of "Decays"...it is also of a completely hand made nature. Also in an edition of just 50 copies, this version comes in recycled paper DVD cases. Each case is covered with a suitable decal, and torn world atlas pages…then each is intensively hand stamped and distressed. Like our planet, and the modern psyche itself, these cases are burnt, torn, cut, bloodied and oil stained. Each of these also comes with a factory pressed disc. The packaging for “Decays” perfectly reflects the temporal nature of this music.

Greetings friends! Once again the earth has circled the sun, and the fall season is upon us! As the days shorten, and the leaves wither and drop, we are pleased to bring you this most appropriately seasonal release from Italian based musician, Francis M. Gri, entitled “Decays”. At times sounding like the soundtrack to a moody, somber Tarkovsky film, Gri has captured the din of the clatter and clang of life as it grows, and then rises in an uplifting anthemic glory to all that man has made. Darkly delicate…constantly decaying and yet reborn again…eternally…this is the sound of “Decays”.
The two physical versions of this release reflect this idea of moral, social and physical decay perfectly.

...Yet beyond crafting four distinct atmospheres, it's the evolution of each piece, the change in seasonal sound, that makes Sallaw such an excellent piece of story-telling. Rather than shown the imagery upfront, the listener is instead guided, and left with space to explore on their own. The ability of the trio's minimal musical writing to evoke such a coherent subject is made all the more impressive by the subtlety with which it is achieved.
